A Memorable Baguio Trip — We're Engaged

It is our four year anniversary as I publish this draft. I should've written something but, hey I went home in the Philippines and met up for the first time with the love of my life!

On November 12 and November 13, my family went to Baguio for a family trip. We've planned the trip prior to us going home, merely for a fun family trip, together with my grandma, mom, sister and her boyfriend and my boyfriend.

From Pampanga, the drive was about two and a half hours passing TPLEX. And since our trip was an overnight trip, we searched for a huge place for us to stay (approximately we are about 11 person staying). We originally planned the trip for November 13 and 14. Prior to that, we already booked and made a down payment to one transient house we found in Baguio, but we had an emergency so we had to look for another transient house, luckily someone picked up our booking and we were booked immediately.

We left Pampanga around 5am and arrived in Baguio at almost 7am. Of course, our first stop is the Lion's Head in Kennon Road, Baguio City. The area was so packed with a lot of tourists and vendors. We spent almost half hour to an hour taking photos, trying their Strawberry Taho which is really good!

Right after Kennon Road, we head out to the Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad, Benguet. It's one of my boyfriend's dream to see the Strawberry Farm, I've been telling him that I'll take him to "La Fresa". When we arrived at the farm, I can really see how excited he is and same thing for me, the last time we went to the Strawberry Farm was when I was little. So this trip was really special as we travelled with my family and my boyfriend.

Too bad we weren't able to pick strawberries that time since it's not their season yet. So we strolled and walked to the farm.

My boyfriend and I walked to the actual farm (he planned to propose to me in this location). We spent like more than thirty minutes walking but he confessed to me once we got to our room that he got too nervous! I don't blame him.

Our next stop was The Mansion (to be honest, I brought my camera but only used my phone to take photos). I didn't really took time to touch my camera, I took this vacation as a time to spend quality time with my family, I planned to vlog my trip but that didn't happened.

After visiting The Mansion, we head out to check out the place we rented. The place we booked was only minutes away from famous tourist spots, so it's a plus for us! We had lunch and we rested for few hours before heading out again to check out the night market.

Soon as we finished lunch, we went to our designated rooms and there I am with my boyfriend laying in bed. I really wanted to sleep as I woke up early that day, had so much food and tired from walking. He stood up and told me he wanted to give me something but one condition, I need to get out of the bed.

Because I was too sleepy, I told him I'm just going to sit on the edge of the bed. There he grabbed his bag and pulled out a small box. I was speechless and really shocked, this is something I didn't expect to happen in this trip or on our entire vacation! He pulled out the ring and sat in front of me and asked me if I wanted to marry him. I cried and forgot to even answer him (but of course, I will marry this sweet and beautiful soul) we both got too emotional that time.

It was one of the best memory I have in the city! What made it more special and memorable, is that he asked my parents first and made my sisters aware that he's going to ask me.

Of course, right after the proposal- I didn't get my nap because I was too distracted and really can't believe that this happened, that we are engaged. We've talked about marriage before but the fact that it happened to me was really something.

After that event, I've heard personal messages from our friends congratulating us.

Our last stop of the day was to visit SM Baguio and Night Market. We came in too early for the Night Market, they typically setup and start at 9PM, so we did was stroll and walk along the side market and spent some time there. SM Baguio is located in a beautiful spot, almost top of a hill and each floor there is this space where you can just enjoy the view, especially sunsets.

We're lucky to see a beautiful sunset that day, perfect way to end this special day! The next day, we started cleaning and packing our stuffs to leave the house. (Here's the view from the place we stayed).

We first went to Baguio Cathedral and offered candles, I said my grace and how grateful I am that I get to spend time with my family, that I get to know my boyfriend during the trip and thanked the Lord for this new chapter of me and my fiance's life. Then we took some photos in the Mines View Park and then last stop was heading to the public market to buy some "pasalubong" for my family in the USA.

Short trip, but definitely the best one yet!
